Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any software to use my reader?

Yes. Proxy Mobile Reader Edge comes with a free one-month subscription. After your first month, you’ll need to sign up for a subscription. View our pricing page for more details.

Which reader is right for me - Pro or Edge?

Proxy Mobile Reader Pro is best for customers already using cards with an existing access control system and building controllers. Proxy Mobile Reader Edge is an all-in-one solution best for doors or buildings without an access control system or controllers.

Do you ship internationally?

We do but not on our website. If you have an international order, contact us and we’ll be happy to work with you.

What is your return policy?

You can return your Proxy reader within the first 30 days after purchase as long as the hardware is in like-new condition.

Do I need any additional door hardware for Proxy to work?

Proxy readers require an electrified door lock such as a strike, mortise lock, or electromagnetic lock. If your door doesn’t already have this hardware, we recommend customers work with their installer to select hardware suitable for their specific doors.

Who installs Proxy?

Proxy Mobile Reader Edge can be installed by almost any locksmith. You can coordinate the install yourself, or Proxy can help you coordinate installation by finding a locksmith for you.

How much does professional installation cost?

Most installations cost between $100 and $300 per door, depending on multiple factors including the location of electrical power, whether the install location is on drywall/brick/concrete, and labor costs in your region. If your door does not already have an electronic lock, it can cost an additional $500 - $1,500 per door to buy and install electronic locking hardware depending whether you use a strike, mortise lock, or maglock.
